Good morning, Jackson! Here's everything you need to know to get this Thursday started off right.

First, today's weather:

A few t-storms, some severe. High: 75 Low: 32.

Here are the top three stories in Jackson today:

  1. A new system of wells has been built and is now operational at the Mississippi Fairgrounds. The new system is separate from the City of Jackson and will provide water pumped from 750 feet underground. The project cost a total of $1.3 million with future plans for expansion. (WJTV)
  2. A severe grass fire caused Robinson Road to shut down on Tuesday night. Jackson firefighters battled the flames that at some points were visible above the tree line. Mississippi has warned of dry conditions and gusty winds that are the perfect conditions for wildfires to occur with the potential to spread. (WAPT Jackson)
  3. Jackson's USA Pawn is battling a consistent dumping problem that has persisted for two years. USA Pawn is located off I-55 and McDowell Road. Staff at the pawnshop report that the trash is from the homeless population rummaging through the dumpsters behind the nearby Marathon gas station. The City of Jackson has tried to help in the past but Jackson's USA Pawn says the city has not been responsive to the problem lately. (WLBT)
