Happy Friday, neighbors! Here's everything you need to know going on in town today.

First, today's weather:

Here are the top three stories in Jackson today:

  1. A Jackson ministry is feeding bodies and souls in the inner city. Hilltop Church and CareCenter Ministries are providing boxes of food to about 300 families every Wednesday. Sam's Club and Costco donate about 2-10,000 pounds of food each week to the ministry. (WLBT)
  2. Jackson Councilman Kenneth Stokes blames the recent crimes on local businesses. He has been trying to get security cameras at local convenience store service stations where a majority of crime is taking place. Stokes also blames store owners for not adding additional security. (WJTV)
  3. The Pearl Police Department named its first woman Assistant Chief. Amanda Thomasson was promoted from Captain to Assistant Chief after beginning her career 21 years ago as a dispatcher. She promises to continue to protect the people of Pearl. (WJTV)
