Here are the top three stories today in Jackson:

  1. A Jackson native is slated to appear on the 19th season of Bravo's "Top Chef," returning on Mar. 10. Nick Wallace is the founder of various culinary businesses as well as the nonprofit Creativity Kitchen, which works with Jackson Public Schools to provide nutritious meals and educate students on healthy eating. Wallace will be competing against 14 other U.S.-based chefs as they cook up iconic regional dishes. (WJTV)
  2. Seven Jackson schools shifted to virtual learning today due to ongoing water pressure issues across the city. After-school programs at virtual school sites are also canceled for the day. Affected students are eligible to pick up a Nutrition on the Go breakfast and lunch at their home schools. (WJTV)
  3. On Wednesday, the Mississippi State Department of Health reported its 10th pediatric death from COVID-19. Statewide, only 7% of 5-to-11-year-olds and 37% of 12-to-17-year-olds have been vaccinated; none of the children who died had received the vaccine. (WAPT Jackson)
