Here are the top stories in Jackson today:

  1. A Jackson State program was awarded $361K for impaired driving prevention. The award was given by the Mississippi Office of Highway Safety, and it will be used by the Metro Jackson Community Prevention Coalition (MJCPC) to address the dangers of impaired driving. School leaders said the grant will also allow MJCPC to provide information to adults who are 65 and older and work with law enforcement agencies to prevent impaired driving. (WJTV)
  2. A Mississippi abortion battle will take center stage when the case goes before the high court. Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization surrounds the Mississippi law that banned most abortions after 15 weeks. The hearing will take place on Dec. 1. (WAPT Jackson)
  3. Two men used hammers to smash into a Byram jewelry store over the weekend and stole $20,000 in products; police are asking for help to identify the thieves. (WLBT)
  4. Eight companies were accused of violating Mississippi's No-Call law, which prohibits companies from calling consumers whose numbers appear on the state's Do Not Call Registry. (WJTV)
  5. A Holmes Community College student, Jon Stegall of Madison, was chosen for the Get2College intern scholarship. (holmescc.edu)
