Happy Tuesday, Jackson! Here's everything you need to know to get this day started off right. Here's everything going on today in Jackson.

First, today's weather:

A shower; breezy and humid. High: 81 Low: 69.

Here are the top three stories today in Jackson:

  1. The Mississippi Civil Rights Museum (MCRW) hosted its annual Kwanzaa celebration on Sunday. Willie Jones, president of Women for Progress Mississippi explained that Kwanzaa is "a celebration and a tradition of unity, of community, of friends, of neighbors." The event was live-streamed on Facebook for safety precautions due to COVID-19. (WAPT Jackson)
  2. Some people were turned away from a Jackson urgent care clinic as hundreds showed up for COVID-19 tests. The facility reached the maximum capacity of 70 COVID-19 tests, thus having to turn away those waiting. A Trust Care worker recommended people check multiple locations or call ahead if they need to get tested. (WLBT)
  3. The Mississippi Highway Patrol is accepting applications for Cadet Class 66, the first class to consist of only certified law enforcement officers. Applicants must be 21 years old, a U.S. citizen, a resident of Mississippi, of good morals, have obtained a high school diploma or GED, have a minimum standards certification from an accredited law enforcement academy, and have completed two or more years of field experience.
