Happy Tuesday, people of Jackson! Let's get you all caught up to start today off on an informed note.

First, today's weather:

Partly sunny and very warm. High: 83 Low: 67.

Here are the top three stories today in Jackson:

  1. According to the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation's Facebook page, the Endangered/Missing Child Alert for three children from the Jackson area has been canceled. Tony Parker Blount, Michael Allen Blount Jr., and Mark Chaztine Blount have all been located and are safe. The alert was issued on Sunday. (MyArklaMiss.com)
  2. The hearing for a Gary Road Elementary educator continued Monday. In early March, Toby Price was fired for "a lack of professionalism and impaired judgment" after reading the children's book "I Need a New Butt!" to a group of second graders. The Hinds County School board will make a decision about Price's job in a couple of months. (WJTV)
  3. Lawmakers in Jackson just passed the state's largest-ever tax cut. The passed bill will reduce the state income tax over four years, beginning in 2023. However, the bill's critiques ask if this action will benefit Jackson's (and Mississippi's) poorest, as their incomes aren't high enough to pay a state income tax — meaning the cut wouldn't affect what they don't pay.
