- Mississippi prisons could soon see a decrease in violent acts within facility walls. Over the last year and a half, Mississippi Department of Correction Commissioner Burl Cain said he has been working on cutting down violent acts in the state prisons through new programs, new facilities, and rehabilitation programs. Notably, however, these improvements are yet to arrive at private institutions. (WTOK)
- A group of four men is wanted for the armed robbery of a business Tuesday night in Jackson. The thieves entered the store on Meadowbrook Road with guns and took approximately $1,300 from the safe and cash register. The same group is suspected of entering the Carnicera Valdez Groceries on Highway 80 while brandishing firearms; they stole approximately $8,000 in cash and assaulted a customer during the robbery. - A $1 million donation toward the Russell C. Davis Planetarium was announced during the City of Jackson's bicentennial celebration opening event. (Jackson Free Press)
- Three months after ending its moratorium water shut-offs for nonpayment, the city of Jackson's water and sewer collections have rebounded to pre-pandemic levels, hitting $6 million last month. (WLBT)
- On Wednesday morning, a man was shot and killed on Capitol Street; police have not yet released information about a suspect or the victim's identity. (WJTV)
