The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Jackson.

Good morning, neighbors! It's me again, Kayla Harrison, your host of the Jackson Daily.
First, today's weather:
Turning cloudy and warmer. High: 65 Low: 60.
Here are the top three stories today in Jackson:
- Record homicides have caused a pandemic of their own for Hinds County Coroner's Office. There were around 159 homicides in 2021, and more children and juveniles were victims than in previous years. The coroner's office is praying this year will not be a repeat. (WLBT)
- Mississippi Spay & Neuter received a grant to assist low-income dog guardians. The $24,690 grant was given by Dogs Trust USA. It will be used to spay and neuter 312 dogs in low-income households located in various counties. (WJTV)
- In Mississippi, a prescription is no longer needed for Pseudoephedrine products. Pseudoephedrine helps relieve allergies, but it's also the primary ingredient in meth. Sheriffs are worried that this will increase the number of meth labs, but the Public Safety Commissioner is confident that the state can provide proper regulation and oversight. (WLBT)
