Here are the top three stories in Jackson today:

  1. On Thursday, two men were injured in separate local shooting incidents. Both shootings occurred around 5:00 p.m., and the victims reportedly suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Jackson Police are currently investigating both shootings. (WJTV)
  2. After weeks of rising fuel costs, gas prices are finally down $0.05 per gallon in Jackson compared to last week. As of Mar. 24, the current price is $3.94 per gallon. The average price per gallon in Mississippi is $3.92. (WJTV)
  3. Jackson residents are concerned after viewing a video showing vacant Rowan Middle School being vandalized. The footage captures a group of people setting fires, rummaging through rooms, and brandishing guns. (WAPT Jackson)

    • The official cocktails for the Bicentennial Celebration have been revealed by the City of Jackson. The "Biccent-tini" and "Soul Stirrer" are made with sparkling seltzer and Jackson cathead vodka. (WJTV)
    • The W.K. Kellogg Foundation has awarded the Jackson Medical Mall Foundation $1.6 million. The funds will be used over 17 months to increase health and economic mobility for low-income minority/females. (WJTV)
    • Children's of Mississippi Urgent Care has expanded its hours. Patients will now be seen from 8 a.m to 8 p.m, Monday through Friday. The clinic has a lab and radiology facilities for testing and x-rays to be done on-site. (Press Release Desk)
