Here are the top stories in Jackson today:

  1. A dog who showed up at a Jackson animal shelter with two broken legs has found a new home that sounds like a perfect match. Radar, named by a vet tech for his really big ears, came to the Mississippi Animal Rescue League earlier in October as a stray. After receiving successful surgery for his injuries, the rescue pup has found his new owner: Andrea Wilson, a civilian Navy worker who specializes in sonar. (WAPT Jackson)
  2. Days after a sixth inmate died at the Hinds County Detention Center, the facility's court-appointed monitor has slammed the county for numerous violations to its consent decree order. The latest death was caused after Michael Richardson was assaulted in the jail's A-Pod, "where the doors don't lock and there is minimal staff supervision." Other deaths have also been attributed to a lack of staffing. (WLBT)
  3. A peaceful prayer vigil turned into a shouting match outside of Jackson Women's Health Organization in Fondren. (WJTV)
  4. A legal clinic in Jackson offered free advice to Mississippians on Friday. (WJTV)
  5. An 18-wheeler crashed into a Jackson home on Saturday afternoon, damaging the home's foundation as well as two cars on the property. (WAPT Jackson)
