Here are the top stories today in Jackson:

  1. Two men shot each other multiple times on Shepwood Drive in Jackson, according to Deputy Chief Deric Hearn. Hearn says a 19-year-old and 21-year-old began to shoot at each other after an argument while gambling around 4 p.m. Saturday. (WLBT)
  2. The City of Jackson Department of Public Works will close a portion of Chadwick Drive to replace a failed storm drain culvert starting Monday. Chadwick Drive will be closed from Robinson Road to Hospital Drive. Only local traffic will be allowed on the Westside of Chadwick Drive. (WJTV)
  3. Massive sinkholes in a Jackson neighborhood cause major concern. Jackson councilman Kenneth Stokes said infrastructure remains an ongoing problem after one school bus nearly turned over on Trinity Street and Edwards Avenue due to a large sinkhole lies in the middle of the street. Some community members said they witnessed a bus with children almost flip. (WJTV)
  4. Jackson police are investigating four separate crashes that killed four pedestrians in a 24-hour period. Jackson Police Deputy Chief Deric Hearn said a man was hit as he was crossing the road at Exit 99 on Interstate 55 near Meadowbrook Road at about midnight Friday. (Clarion Ledger)
  5. A two-vehicle crash occurred on Highway 49 near Brandon Road in Rankin County around 11:15 p.m. Friday. Mississippi Highway Patrol says Cynthia M. Witt, 49, was traveling south on US-49 when she struck Martin D. Hillman, 57, traveling northbound. (WLBT)
