Here are the top three stories today in Jackson:

  1. A special judge was appointed for the Jackson pastor's case against two council members. Retired Circuit Judge Lamar Pickard has been chosen to preside over the case in which Pastor Dwayne Pickett filed a lawsuit against two council members and accused them of bribery. (WJTV)
  2. Thieves hit an auto shop that's been in Jackson for nearly three decades on Christmas morning. They stole catalytic converters from Allen Enterprises that totaled around $3,000 to $4,000. Shop owner George Allen recommends people park their cars in a garage whenever possible. (WLBT)
  3. A successful Ridgeland investment firm is changing its name to better reflect the path they've always taken to put clients on a strong financial foundation. MedleyBrown will officially be known as SoundPath Investment Advisors on Jan. 1. (Daily Journal)

  • Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks is partnering with the Mississippi Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks Foundation to host five Youth Squirrel Hunts across the state on February 12, 2022. ⁠Before heading to the woods on a real hunt, kids and their accompanying adults will learn about the role of hunting in wildlife conservation, hunting ethics, wildlife biology and firearm safety.   • Join the Mississippi Children's Museum on Friday, Dec. 31 for a Noon Year's Eve celebration. Children can create their own noisemaker, add New Year's wishes to the Wishing Wall, participate in a scavenger hunt, and more. (Facebook)
