Here are the top three stories today in Jackson:
- Jackson Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba has declared a state of emergency related to a contract for a garbage collection vendor. The announcement comes as the current garbage vendor's proposal was denied and the city nears a public health dilemma. If the city cannot decide on a new garbage collection vendor, there will be no trash pickup throughout the area. (Press Release Desk)
- Kids Fest Jackson is coming to the Mississippi Trademark on Apr. 9 at 10:00 a.m. Attendees will be able to see mini-figure displays, enjoy bounce houses, marvel at costumed characters, and play video games or tabletop games. General admission for the event will be $15 with tickets being available for purchase online. (WJTV)
- The University Of Mississippi Medical Center has released research that indicates that COVID-19 vaccinations of pregnant women provide protection to their babies. According to the research, the antibodies created by the vaccine travels to the unborn child while it is developing within the mother's womb.
