🌱 Stokes' Youth Curfew + New Playground At LeFleur's Bluff

Happy Tuesday, Jackson! Let's start today off on an informed note, shall we? Here's everything you need to know around town today.

Here are the top stories in Jackson today:
- A Jackson city councilman is calling for a youth curfew to curb crime. Ward 3's Kenneth Stokes spoke Sunday at New Hope Baptist Church, where he proposed a curfew for minors. Said Stokes, "If [parents] can bring these children into the world, they can take care of these children. Our parents did it." The councilman is partnering with New Hope to host a town hall meeting on Thursday evening; however, the vote on the proposed curfew won't happen until after the new year. (WAPT Jackson)
- A new, life-size playground for little and big kids opens this week at the LeFleur's Bluff Complex. The 30,000-square-foot playground will feature 80 play activities, with 73 of these features being inclusive to children with accessibility needs. It's the first phase of a multi-purpose complex, which will also include an outdoor pavilion and museum walking trail. The playground will be between the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science and the Mississippi Children's Museum. (WLBT)
- The City of Jackson will host the 11th annual "Doing Business with the City" networking event on Thursday, Dec.9; small and minority businesses are encouraged to attend the event. (WJTV)
- The trial for the man accused of killing a woman in Jackson in 2018 began in Hinds County Circuit Court on Monday. (WJTV)
- Snap a pic with old Saint Nick: for the next two Saturdays, the City of Jackson's Department of Parks & Recreation is hosting "Pictures with Soul Santa" at the Westbrook House. (WLBT)
