Hey, neighbors! It's me again, Kayla Harrison, your host of the Jackson Daily.

First, today's weather:

Times of clouds and sun. High: 69 Low: 47.

Here are the top 3 stories in Jackson today:

  1. City leaders and residents gathered for a 'Stop the Violence' rally in Jackson on Saturday. The city has seen nine homicides this year already, and leaders are on a mission to prevent more through federal programs and encouraging residents to step up. In addition, councilman Kenneth Stokes is proposing an ordinance that will hold parents more accountable for their kids' actions. (WLBT)
  2. JSU students bagged up fresh and canned vegetables for the semi-annual crop drop. A community farmer, Kelli Randal, said it was a beautiful process getting to learn about how to be part of the solution in helping rural communities. Some of the vegetables that were given out were planted by students in gardens of their own or from local gardens in Jackson. (WAPT Jackson)
  3. Mississippi reached 50% fully vaccinated on Sunday, according to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention. The county with the highest fully vaccinated population is Jefferson County with around 67%. Within Mississippi, the age group that has the highest percentage of fully vaccinated people is ages 50-64 with 69%. (WJTV)
