🌱 Two Jackson Bridges Closed + Golf Course Funding Vetoed

Here are the top three stories today in Jackson:

  1. Jackson's Public Works Department has closed two bridges this week. The bridge closures were instated after deterioration was discovered during a recent inspection. The bridges will reportedly remain closed until the wooden piles can be replaced. There is currently no timeframe available for either bridge's reopening date. The bridges are located at Smallwood Street between Longwood Drive & Wooddell Drive and at Alyce Street west of Barrier Place. (Press Release Desk)
  2. The American Heart Association will be hosting its annual Heart Ball on Saturday at the Country Club of Jackson. The event will begin at 6:00 p.m. to raise funds for research. Tickets to the ball can be purchased by clicking on the link. (WJTV)
  3. Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves has vetoed funds for a new Jackson golf course. The $13.2 million needed for the new golf course at LeFluer's Bluff Complex was denied despite support from the Lt. Governor, the House Speaker, and prominent state senators. The Governor signed his veto claiming that the funds were an inappropriate use of taxpayer money. (WLBT)
