Here are the top three stories today in Jackson:
- If you've driven through Highway 49 over the past few years, you may have noticed constant construction. Good news: the Mississippi Department of Transportation has reported that the U.S. Highway 49 project in Rankin County is almost complete. The project will reportedly be finished by late summer. The road will have three lanes and a shoulder in each direction after reconstructing 7.5 miles of highway between Florence and Richland. (WAPT Jackson)
- The Jackson Police Department is asking the public for tips in a 2018 cold case. The investigation is about the murder of Ketra Johnson, 45, in her home on Keener Avenue. The department is asking anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers or the department directly. (WJTV)
- Eaton Aerospace employees are protesting as labor negotiations approach. The employees picketed at various locations throughout Jackson on Thursday demanding better wages and benefits. The employees have also accused the company of demanding its employees work overtime. Eaton Aerospace has been issued a complaint by the National Labor Relations Board after allegedly violating nine different parts of the labor act. (WLBT)
