Here are the top stories in Jackson today:

  1. Hinds County supervisors passed a motion to give employees relief money. The program was created to reward those who can prove they've received their Covid-19 vaccination. The award money will be coming from the federal American Rescue Plan. (WJTV)
  2. Barack H. Obama Magnet Elementary School and Bailey APAC Middle School were named the best K-8 schools in Mississippi by the U.S. News & World Report. The rankings are based on state assessment scores taken during the 2018-2019 school year. (Clarion Ledger)
  3. The Jackson Municipal Airport Authority (JMAA) will host the October Harvest Festival on Oct. 22 at the old HKS terminal. (WJTV)
  4. Thieves stole a food truck from a North Fondren business owner who built the truck to cope with her mom's death. (WLBT)
  5. A Jackson State sophomore was shot and killed over the weekend, and police identified her as one of the victims in the triple shooting at Club Rain. (WLBT)
