Good morning, people of Jackson! It's me again, Kayla Harrison, your host of the Jackson Daily.

First, today's weather:

Here are the top stories today in Jackson:

  1. Residents of Mississippi's capital city are being warned to boil water before using it because of low pressure in the aging water system. The citywide alert was issued after a problem occurred during the weekend at one of Jackson's water treatment plants. Charles Williams, the city's chief engineer, said the issue was resolved but it had drained the storage tanks. (Jackson Free Press)
  2. Jackson Mayor Chokwe A. Lumumba will hold a town hall meeting today to discuss the city's contracting process for a garbage collection company. The city will accept bids from interested garbage collection companies that will be evaluated by an independent review body.
The town hall will be held at New Horizon Church on Ellis Avenue at 6:00 p.m. (WJTV)
  3. Three seniors at Jim Hill High School have won scholarships from Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Incorporated. (WJTV)
  4. The Jackson Police Department has fewer officers and investigators than ever before who've been forced to put in long hours to track down leads and suspects in 126 murders so far this year. (WAPT Jackson)
