🌱 Women's Foundation Of MS Awards $680K + Jackson Toy Giveaway

Here are the top three stories today in Jackson:

  1. Women's Foundation of Mississippi awarded more than $680K in grants. The money will fund programs that support women and girls across the state. They identified four priority areas of Better Futures, Two-Generation Approach, Two-Generation Community College, Healthy Women, and Access to Opportunity: Community College. (WJTV)
  2. A local radio station is collaborating with JPD to bring Christmas cheer to Jackson kids with an annual toy giveaway. They will be giving out toys to selected families in the metro during the week of Christmas. Radio listeners donated items worth over $10K. (WAPT Jackson)
  3. A Mississippi College professor won an award for his history book, "Complexion of Empire in Natchez, Race and Slavery in the Mississippi Borderlands." Associate history professor Christian Pinnen's book was named the best Mississippi history book in 2021. Pinnen teaches courses on U.S. history, history of the old south, Latin American survey, the American Revolution and American slavery. (WJTV)

Families can ring in the New Year in a "Glow-tastic" way while saying goodbye to 2021 and the "Wild Weather" exhibit before it ends. (Facebook)
  • Santa will be at the Mississippi Children's Museum taking photos with guests on Dec. 23 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Purchase tickets online to secure a visit with Santa on his last day at the museum. (Facebook)
  • Mississippi Market Co-op reminds member-owners to use their quarterly 10% off coupon by next Friday, Dec. 31. It can help save money on last-minute gifts or food for holiday celebrations. The coupon is attached to each member's account. (Instagram)
