1. Over 50 participate in memorial Stair Climb (meridianstar.com) — More than 50 people, including many Meridian firefighters, climbed the Arts District Parking Garage stairs Thursday night to honor those lost on Sept. 11, 2001. Participants tackled the equivalent of 110 floors while raising funds for local first responders, and several area heroes from Meridian and Lauderdale County agencies received Spirit of 9-11 awards.
   

2. MPD provides update on Monday shooting (meridianstar.com) — Meridian police say a young victim wounded in a Labor Day shooting on the 1900 block of 39th Place has died from his injuries. Investigators are still searching for those responsible, and officers warn that anyone helping suspects hide or evade arrest could also face criminal charges as the community mourns the loss.
   

3. Gulfport Girls Varsity Volleyball vs. Northeast Lauderdale (maxpreps.com) — Northeast Lauderdale's girls volleyball team from Meridian edged Gulfport 2–1 in a non-league road match Saturday, improving the Trojans' record to 15–14. The Meridian-area squad now prepares to host West Lauderdale on Monday in a key Class 4A Region 5 matchup that could interest local fans following Lauderdale County high school sports.
   

4. Local residents give legislators a piece of their minds (meridianstar.com) — Meridian-area residents packed Meridian Community College's McCain Theater Thursday to confront lawmakers over proposed changes to Mississippi's legislative maps. Many speakers, including local voting-rights advocates and residents, warned that redistricting could dilute Black and Democratic voting power, while others urged race-neutral, community-focused districts as legislators weigh how to respond to a recent Supreme Court decision.
   

5. Jeremy Paul Goodman (cheathamcountysource.com) — A 43-year-old Tennessee man died following a serious accident in Meridian a tragedy that may weigh on local first responders and anyone connected to the incident. His funeral and burial will be held Tuesday in Pleasant View, Tennessee, where family and friends will gather to remember his service, love of the outdoors, and devotion to his wife and children.
