Today's riddle: Why do Norway's navy ships all have barcodes? 🤔 (Answer below!)
• Lauderdale E-911 and LEMA relocating ahead of building renovations (wtok.com) — Emergency services offices in Lauderdale County are shifting locations in Meridian after major roof leaks at the shared E-911 and LEMA building forced a yearlong renovation plan. LEMA is now at the Meridian Public Safety Training Facility, while fire services and the permit office have moved to other county sites, and E-911 will operate from a portable building on the original property.
• Key Field in Meridian named finalist to host KC-46 Pegasus aircraft (queencitynewsfeed.com) — Key Field Air National Guard Base in Meridian is now one of four finalists to host the Air Force's new KC-46 Pegasus refueling aircraft, a move that could significantly boost the local base's mission and future. Officials say Meridian's location, infrastructure investments, and experienced airmen helped it stand out, though the Air Force has not yet made a final decision.
• Traffic Advisory: Old 8th St. Rd. Closure Set for Oct. 7 (queencitynewsfeed.com) — Drivers in Meridian and Lauderdale County should plan around a full closure of the 2000 block of Old 8th Street Road between Sneed Road and West Adams Road on Wednesday, Oct. 7, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Crews will replace a cross pipe under the roadway, so officials urge motorists to slow down near the work zone, expect delays, and use alternate routes.
