Meridian Community College: New Digital Campus Sign Engages College And Community

With the signature colors of green and white and solidly encased in tan brick, Meridian
Community College’s new digital sign welcomes students, staff, and visitors to the
Highway 19 North campus.

The towering structure is getting its final touches, and it is replacing the former
sign that was constructed 16 years ago.

MCC President Dr. Thomas Huebner said the dual-sided signage serves more than a signpost.
“We have so much happening at MCC, and the new sign is one more tool to help us share
important information with people as they pass by campus. I can’t wait for the community
to see it completed.”

That completion date is nearing, said MCC Physical Plant Director Adam Foreman who
noted it’s been about a year in the making of the sign from demolition of the former
structure to finishing the masonry of this sign.

Foreman acknowledges the new sign’s digital look is impressive, especially with its
full-color, animated video and messaging capabilities. “We can remotely manage the
content and keep it updated,” said Tony Boutwell, director of visual media.

Leia Hill, vice president for institutional advancement and executive director of
the MCC Foundation, said “The new sign is a reflection of many significant changes
we've made in recent months. In fact, in many ways, it feels like a new campus.”

She added, “We've updated our technology across the board and can offer our students
more than ever before. We're proud we can use this new sign to engage both our college
and our community."
