• FPA of Mississippi to Host (redhillsmsnews.com) — Financial planners from across Mississippi will gather in Starkville on October 21 for the Financial Planning Association of Mississippi’s annual symposium at The Mill Conference Center at Mississippi State University. Local professionals can hear keynote speaker Gen. Harold Cross discuss past and future economic challenges, then dive into sessions on markets, PERS updates, charitable giving, credibility, and serving military families, with registration starting at $95.
   

• Southwire Breaks Ground on $256 Million Starkville Manufacturing Expansion (citybiz.co) — A major manufacturing expansion is coming right to Starkville, with Southwire investing $256 million to enlarge its local plant and add about 130 jobs over the next few years. Construction is slated to start in late 2026, with full operations by 2028, bringing upgraded equipment, a safer workplace, and a much larger footprint that should strengthen both the company and the Starkville-area job market.
   

• Bulldogs bark back in second half to defeat Aggies 2-1 (thebatt.com) — Texas A&M’s women’s soccer team dropped a 2-1 road match to Georgia, extending its SEC losing streak, and now turns its focus to a visit to Starkville. The Aggies will face Mississippi State on Friday, Oct. 9, giving local fans a chance to see SEC action and watch whether A&M can finally snap its skid.
