Missouri Sailor Among Missing USS John McCain Sailors
Meanwhile, search and rescue efforts have been suspended, and a body recovered by the Malaysian Navy has been returned.

A man from Amazonia, just north of St. Joseph, Missouri, has been identified as one of ten sailors who went missing when the U.S. Navy destroyer U.S.S. John S. McCain collided with a merchant vessel near Singapore on Monday. Electronics Technician 1st Class Charles Nathan Findley, 31, of Missouri, is among the missing, the Navy confirmed. The Navy also said Technician 3rd Class Kenneth Aaron Smith, 22, from New Jersey, was killed in the collision.
Also missing are:
- Interior Communications Electrician 1st Class Abraham Lopez, 39, from Texas
- Electronics Technician 2nd Class Kevin Sayer Bushell, 26, from Maryland
- Electronics Technician 2nd Class Jacob Daniel Drake, 21, from Ohio
- Information Systems Technician 2nd Class Timothy Thomas Eckels Jr., 23, from Maryland
- Information Systems Technician 2nd Class Corey George Ingram, 28, from New York
- Electronics Technician 3rd Class Dustin Louis Doyon, 26, from Connecticut
- Electronics Technician 3rd Class John Henry Hoagland III, 20, from Texas
- Interior Communications Electrician 3rd Class Logan Stephen Palmer, 23, from Illinois
Search and rescue efforts were suspended Thursday, three days after the collision, as the Navy shifted to a recovery mission. The McCain collided with the Alnic MC on Monday in the South China Sea as it was headed to Singapore for a routine port call.

The bodies of some of the missing sailors have been located inside of the McCain.
Findley's sister, Toni Greim, told the Kansas City Star her brother enjoyed rebuilding cars and life overseas. She said she realizes she has probably lost her brother, and expressed frustration with the Navy.

“They’re not communicating with us at all,” Greim said. “I want to know where my brother is. I want to know what’s taking so long."
