Cor Jesu Academy junior Mary Munsell earned a top composite score of 36 on a recent ACT test, after scoring a 35 on the test this past October. Nationally, while the actual number of students earning a composite score of 36 varies from year to year, less than one-tenth of one percent of students who take the ACT earn a top score.
Munsell, who attended the Missouri Scholars Academy in the summer of 2012, has also received the National Latin Exam’s Summa Cum Laude (gold award) for the past three years. In addition, she recently received Cor Jesu’s Harvard Book Award and the Mathematics & Science Award through Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and will be participating in Washington University’s ASPIRE program for medical research this summer. She is involved in numerous co-curricular activities at Cor Jesu, including cross country, the Politics Club (a new club that Mary founded and currently leads), IMPEL, the Campus Ministry Service Committee, Latin Club, National Honor Society and ECHO. Munsell aspires to major in chemical or biomedical engineering and plans to continue on with medical school at a college or university yet to be determined.
Cor Jesu Academy, a private Catholic college-preparatory school for young women, ranks among the top ACT average scores in the area, averaging a 29. The national average is a 21.1.
