I will be the first one to admit...ARTIST ARE WEIRD! Yes firmly speaking, I can boldly announce, the way we see things is startling at times. With all the movement of color, perspective, imagination and mindless creativity no wonder there is a gaggle of us so misplaced!
Recently, I have combed through quite a few art gallery's looking to find a home for my masterpieces...(ha ha, I do amuse myself!) I am taking in a whole new view of what really is out there in the art world. As one might say "one man's trash is another man's treasure" It would be said the same about art!
When trying to perceive the meaning behind one's creation it can be mind boggling. As you twist your head in contortions of misproport you find yourself, under breath saying, " what is it and what does it mean? Really unless you are standing next to the artist... Your guess is as good as it gets! because no one understands ever what moves the artist... It's a gift ya know!
A good friend of mine recently stated, "well at least we know what your paintings are." (I call that conceptual imagery) I would suppose art is suppose to be collected where mine is not to be collected... it is to be purchased and hung to hang with your decor! Kind of a basic theory! (I think) You like it, it matches something in your house, it reminds you of_____ better yet you are lov'n the colors and you have to have it... to look at everyday for the rest of your beautiful life! (there is that crazy imagination of mine!)
Anyway, the point to all this is, what sensibility that moves you to purchase any piece is a self indulged gift. If it moves you in any way shape or form do yourself a favor and buy it! With each piece that we (the artist) create there is an attachment behind it. We want to know that our painstaken efforts are proudly displayed "somewhere." Also for any of us starving...the amount that is bestowed upon that piece isn't based upon what we feel we are worth but the time that it took to get that masterpiece in the shape that it is.
Most recently, my current work is my rendition of the new stadium. The challenges I have had... has been with getting the correct scale to the proportion to the subject at hand. This is where architectural drawing would have come greatly come in hand... in some form of training...considering I am a self taught artist but nonetheless with each piece I finish, I have mastered one more skill that I can only hope "someone" will purchase and enjoy for as long as it hangs proudly on a wall to be eminently displayed!
So as I look to my first gallery showing, I cordially invite all of you to venture out. Come mix and mingle for a night fun imagination from the views of a working artist! See you soon...
