Babies are a Miracle

Good Morning,  At the church I attend, I often warn people to not drink the water. It seems like more and more babies are born to friends I know there and the only link I see is they must be drinking the water. Or perhaps its the bagels and cream cheese. This summer has brought a wonderful addition of new babies to many families and last night was no different. After a month in the hospital, one of our pastor's wife delivered a precious child in the early morning today.  This baby among so many was born to a family whose excitement over this miracle couldn't be measured. Children are certainly a gift and I believe a miracle. How can something so small be entrusted to two parents who are willing to do anything it takes to care and love this wonderful miracle.  No instruction manuals available and yet here they are. Some families experience the pain of loss when a baby doesn't make it and yet we all look for the hope that there is a plan from God that makes this tragedy mean something. Families that endure the pain and loss of a newborn feel a unigue pain that few of us understand. Like different kinds of love, there are different kinds of loss. The loss of a spouse feels different than the loss of a child for sure. But for both births, Healthy babies or not,  the miracle of a new baby has an amazing effect on all of us. My grandmother used to say that you were never given more than you do handle and I believe that must be true. But the next time you think you can't handle something your child has done, go back and remember the miracle that stands before you.
