Just over a week ago I was photographing an event in the Glen Carbon area. The event was the area homecoming. They had rides, food and a wonderful band. I really enjoyed listening to Smash Band. If you have not heard them then you need to look them up on www.SmashBand.com to see where they will be playing. They were awesome!
While listening to the band, Smash informed us of his new foundation to support those with diabetes. My husband and I decided to write him a check there on the spot to the Smash Diabetes foundation. Below is the press release that he sent out.
SMASH DIABETES
PRESS STATEMENT
“SMASH DIABETES” WAS CREATED AND IS BEING DEVELOPED AS A WAY TO HELP PEOPLE WHO ARE EXPERIENCING TOUGH FINANCIAL TIMES THAT RESULT IN AN INABILITY TO PAY FOR THEIR DIABETES MEDS. FOR EXAMPLE, THROUGH LOSS OF A JOB AND/OR HEALTH INSURANCE, THE PLAN IS TO OFFER FINANCIAL AID SO THAT A DIABETIC CAN PAY THE PHARMACIST AND, THEREFORE WON’T HAVE TO SUFFER DUE TO NO MEDS.

I do believe that this topic touched our hearts, as we have recently lost two friends to this horrible illness. We have watch how they suffer. What we did with our donation was just a tiny bit of what is needed. I am glad that we were able to do what we have done although it was so little.
