Green Park Gas Station Looking to Expand

Lindbergh Boulevard Mobil presents city with plans to refuel site with larger store, car wash.

The company that owns the Mobil gas station on Lindbergh Boulevard is seeking to make major upgrades to the site’s store and car wash.

Preliminary plans for the renovated fueling stop operated by Wallis Companies were presented to the Board of Aldermen at its meeting Monday night. The designs call for demolition the current store and constructing a 3,100 square foot structure in its place. The car wash will also be revamped and enlarged.

“It will feature more modern accommodations and offerings,” said Kevin Kamp, a representative from Civil Environmental Consultants, an engineering firm contracted by Wallis Companies.

The plan has received a recommendation from the city’s planning and zoning commission and contains a number of minor exceptions to city code. Green Park engineering consultant Derrick Madej explained that these include areas where the property setback limits have been exceeded and a ground sign that is slightly higher than the allowed height.

The renovation will not include the gas pumps, but the Mueller Road entrance to the business will be moved 21 feet from its present location toward Lindbergh Boulevard and widened.

“There really is no good location for this entrance,” Madej said. “They are just trying to improve the entrance by widening so people will have easier access, but you will still have the same maneuvers that you do now.”

The project could also include improvements for pedestrians as well as motorists. In response to a question from Mayor Tony Konopka, Kamp said they “would not have a problem” with putting in new sidewalks on the portion of the property along Mueller Road.

A final version of the construction designs will be brought before the Green Park Board of Aldermen for a vote at its November meeting. A public hearing will also be held to gather public input on the plans, which can be viewed at Green Park City Hall at 11100 Mueller Road.
