Mackenzie Deli Gaining Fans as Fresh Take on Old Shop

Have you tried the deli where Rayes Quick Stop to be?

There’s a new face on an old location, and it’s been attracting a growing set of regulars.

Mackenzie Deli, located along Mackenzie Road at 9445 Pancho Dr., offers a variety of hot and cold Italian and American sandwiches, including fan-favorite “The Tower.”

Along with a deli the store also includes a small convenience store that sells drinks, beer, picture frames, ice and other items. There are several tables for customers to dine in.

For 30 years the location was home to Rayes Quick Stop. According to deli owner Tom Dubin, that business, which he was involved with, came to an end about four months ago. The store was recast as Mackenzie Market, but added the deli when people in the area said that the neighborhood could use another place to eat.

“We said, ‘we need food, we need food,’ and it’s been awesome,” said Noelle Gann, who works at the deli.

Patch readers are also excited about the new location.

“Mackenzie Deli is great,” wrote Don Holstein on our Facebook page. “The Gerber is really good and the owner is very friendly and aims to please his customers.”

“They make the freshest from-scratch deli sandwiches,” wrote Patch reader Gene Hutchins in a news tip. “Their Roast Beef IS NOT the processed commercial variety. They have fresh-made onion soup that is NOT from a mix or can.”
