Ulysses S. Grant National Historic Site welcomes Jim Lucas portraying Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. A student of the teachings of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Lucas chronicles the Civil Rights Movement through the eyes of Dr. King. He walks you through the twelve and a half years of Dr. King's life as a Civil Rights Leader. In this dramatic one-man show, Lucas presents little known facts about Dr. King and the Movement as well as excerpts from some of his well-known speeches.
In August 1983, Lucas attended the 20th Anniversary of the March on Washington. It was during that march that Lucas was inspired to learn and later recite Dr. King's speeches. Since then, Lucas has traveled nationwide delivering various renditions of Dr. King's I Have a Dream, I've Been to the Mountaintop, excerpts from The Drum Major Instinct, The Letter from Birmingham Jail and other works in a dramatic one-man show.
The event is free, however, due to limited seating reservations are required. Please call (314) 842-1867 and press 2 to make reservations.
