Shred Excess Tax Docs With the Lakeshire PD

The Lakeshire Police Department is co-sponsoring a shredding and pharmaceutical event on May 7.

With identity theft a real and present threat these days, it’s a good idea to be careful about what you put out in your garbage. Papers showing your social security numbers and other personal information can be dangerous in the wrong hands. If you did your own taxes, you may have several draft copies of your paperwork left over. The best policy is to have these shredded.

The Police Department is teaming up with the Crestwood and Sunset Hills police to sponsor a South County location for the second annual “Shred-It Day.” The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on May 7 at Crestwood Court on Watson Road.

South County residents can watch their old personal documents get shredded by a high-speed, mobile, cross-cut Shred-It shredder. The organizers are asking for a donation of $5 per box, which will go to benefit the St. Louis regional Crime Stoppers, a non-profit which works with police departments to solve crimes.
