Shrewsbury Police Blotter: Open Doors May Be Insecure

Friday, July 22

A homeowner in the 7600 block of Suffolk Avenue left their garage door to their attached garage open overnight. Beer was stolen from a refrigerator within the garage, and Ralph Lauren sunglasses and compact discs were stolen from the unlocked car parked in the garage.

Shrewsbury police investigated and arrested a woman from South St. Louis County for forgery. The suspect endorsed a computer generated fake check and deposited into her Regions Bank account at 7205 Watson Rd. The suspect immediately began withdrawing cash, and eventually her account was more than $1,200 overdrawn.

Saturday, July 23

Police located a red Chevy Blazer and arrested and cited a South St. Louis City man, an admitted heroin addict, for the theft from an insecure Jeep in the parking lot of , 7435 Watson Rd. The original incident took place on July 20 at 10:20 p.m. The victim told police that he parked his vehicle on the lot about 8 p.m. and when he returned to it, his Sony stereo and two snatch tool boxes were stolen. The owner of the vehicle did not have the Jeep’s doors attached to the vehicle at the time of the incident.

Sunday, July 24

Shrewsbury police investigated the theft of a Guess purse from an insecure 2002 Chevy Cavalier parked near the , 7417 Sutherland Ave. The purse contained a Guess wallet, eyeglasses, debit card, credit cards, cash, keys and driver’s license.

Monday, July 25

Police arrested a woman from Affton for alleged possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia after a traffic stop at 4400 Shrewsbury Ave.

Shrewsbury Police spotted a vehicle wanted in connection to a robbery in another jurisdiction on eastbound Interstate 44 near Shrewsbury Avenue. The vehicle turned around at Hampton Avenue and drove west on Interstate 44. The vehicle was captured by Missouri State Highway Patrol at the Gray Summit exit from Interstate 44, and the man was arrested.

Wednesday, July 27

Police arrested a man from Millstadt, Illinois for speeding 74 in a 60 miles per hour zone and for alleged possession of drug paraphernalia after a traffic stop on eastbound Interstate 44.

Friday, July 29

Police arrested a Shrewsbury man on charges of domestic assault at 1 a.m. The original incident took place in the 7100 block of Weil Avenue on June 20. The man told police that he had been hiding at a relative’s home in North St. Louis County since the incident.
