Spirit of Saint Louis Band Delights with Spring Concert
Lindbergh High School is preparing for a competition this weekend.
Yesterday the Lindbergh High School Spirit of Saint Louis Band presented their spring concert at Lindbergh High School, in preparation for the band’s participation in the Saint Louis Suburban Solo and Ensemble Festival at Florissant Valley Community College this weekend.
The Freshman Band played Robert Sheldon’s "Appalachian Morning," and Richard Saucedo’s "American Barndance." The Concert Band followed with Brain Balmages’s "Summer Dances," and Joseph Curiale’s "Joy." The Symphonic Band rounded out the evening with John Paynter’s arrangement of Malcolm Arnold’s "Four Scottish Dances," and David Gillingham’s "With Heart and Voice."
The band is excited for its upcoming performance at the Saint Louis Suburban Festival. “It’s always tricky when you’re rehearsing right before a concert,” band director Dan Arana said. “'With Heart and Voice' has complicated time signature changes. It’s very hit or miss when we play it. Tonight seemed to go well.”
