Two Cor Jesu Academy students selected as 2016 Bank of America Student Leaders

Cor Jesu Academy rising senior Amanda Wilson and recent graduate Kristen Kimble, who will attend the University of Arkansas in the fall, are two of five St. Louis-area teens selected to be part of the 2016 Bank of America Student Leaders program this summer. The program awards the students a paid, eight-week summer internship at a local nonprofit and a trip to Washington, D.C. to participate in the Bank of America Student Leadership Summit.

Amanda is passionate about working with children of all backgrounds, abilities and education levels through her volunteer work in programs, including Team Activities for Special Kids (TASCK), CJA’s Benin Babies, which sponsors the Apostles of the Sacred Heart in Benin, Africa, and Sweet Babies, a local nonprofit. During Amanda’s junior year, she served in an elected position to coordinate the funds for Cor Jesu’s annual Penny Queen week, where she assisted in raising approximately $27,000 for six local charities.

With more than 300 hours of community service completed during high school, Kristen continuously seeks opportunities to build on her leadership skills inside her community. Kristen uses her enthusiastic personality as a camp counselor at Sherwood Forest Camp, where kids from disadvantaged homes are given support to become the best version of themselves.

As part of the Bank of America Student Leaders program, each student receives a paid eight-week internship. Amanda is interning at FOCUS St. Louis and Kristen is interning at the International Institute. The internships provide students with valuable work experience while also supporting the nonprofits with extra help this summer.
