On Saturday, June 29, 2013, Ulysses S. Grant National Historic Site will commemorate the 150th anniversary of Ulysses S. Grant's victory at Vicksburg, Mississippi.
This free program will focus on how Grant's determination and perseverance ultimately secured for the Union a resounding victory, and how he went on to become a model of leadership and citizenship for his countrymen. Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts will march in a parade of American and troop flags around the historic home, White Haven. Speakers will highlight milestones of the most remarkable and unorthodox campaign of the Civil War.
Visitors can view a small dispaly of Civil War images and other artifacts related to the Vicksburg campaign in the Visitor Center lobby and museum. These items will only be on display through July 6, 2013.
