Whiz Kid: Speed Skating LHSS Senior Going Places, Fast

Ian Quinn, a senior at Lutheran South, is involved in a variety of activities at school including the cross country and track teams, National Honor Society and Student Ambassadors. He also serves as a devotion leader for small group worship. But it’s what Ian does outside of school that makes him especially awesome. For the last 11 years, Ian has been competing in speed skating.

In his most recent competition, America’s Cup in Chesterfield, Ian won a 1^st place finish in the 500m and a 3^rd place finish in the 1500m races. He earned points through a series of races in different areas of the country throughout the year. The competitors with the top point totals at the end of the season in March will be selected for the National team.

After he graduates from Lutheran South next spring, Ian will continue to train at the Junior Olympic Training facility in Pittsburgh, PA.
