‘Accidental Use of Candle’ Cause of Arnold Fire

The fire occurred last week on the 2200 block of Piper Drive, no serious injuries were reported.

Ron Harder, spokesperson for the , said a fire last week in Arnold was started by the “accidental use of a candle.”

Firefighters responded to the scene of the fire at approximately 6 p.m. on Nov. 23 in the 2200 Block of Piper Drive. Harder said a couple who lived in the house escaped the fire safely. The woman was taken to the hospital for chest pains, Arnold Police Major Nick McBroom said. Harder said the pains were “stress-related” as a result of the fire.

Both McBroom and Harder indicated no serious injuries were sustained by either.

Harder said it took approximately 20 minutes for firefighters to put out the flames, which heavily damaged the living room of the one-story house, he said.

Harder said further damage was prevented because of the quick response of the firefighters, who were alerted of the fire thanks to a working smoke detector in the house.
