Couples Wed on Six Flags St. Louis Water Slide

Krystal Chavez had never been on a water slide until Thursday morning. Thursday morning was also her wedding ceremony.

Krystal and Gabriel Chavez braved the new at to be the very first couple wed Thursday and to christen Six Flags' new addition to Hurricane Harbor in Eureka.

The couple from Pevely, MO, won the opportunity in a radio promotion to host their wedding on the new body water slide. They and three other couples could each have 20 guests at the park for their big event.

The other three couples reside in St. Louis; Farmington, MO; and Park Hills, MO.

Bonzai Pipeline opens to the public this Saturday. Water park guests plummet 40 mph through 290 feet of tubing.

Wedding ceremonies Thursday morning were performed by Rev. Bob Barker and Rev. Jay Kilb, of All Couples Married. The St. Louis-based ministers were connected to each couple from the rides' end by microphone. Prior to the water-inspired ceremony, Barker encouraged the Chavezes to have fun and know that all would be fine.

"Now take the plunge into marriage and be sure to yell Bonzai at the bottom," he told them.

Kilb read some passages from The Art of Marriage, reminding each couple that little things are the big things in a marriage.

The ministers said they have performed thousands of weddings with interesting destinations and notable elements, such as when a dog was the best man.
