Family-Friendly Concert Series at Jefferson Barracks Park Starts Friday

Live blues and oldies music under the stars is just a short drive from Arnold.

Two series of family-friendly weekend concerts in Jefferson Barracks Park have been announced for the month of June: Blues on the Mississippi and Oldies by the River.

Each Friday in June, different blues bands from around the region will play. Acts include:

June 3: Alvin Jett;

June 10: Marcell Strong;

June 17: Patti & the Hitmen;

June 24: Soulard Blues Band.

Saturdays in June will feature oldies music:

June 4: Elvis Live! With Steve Davis—one of St. Louis’s top Elvis impersonators;

June 11: Ticket to the Beatles, a St. Louis-based Beatles cover band;

June 18: Sh-Boom plays nostalgic rock songs from the 50s, 60s and 70s;

June 25: Fabulous Motown Review will perform Motown classics.

The concerts will be held in the Veteran’s Memorial Amphitheater in Jefferson Barracks Park. The gates open for each concert at 7 p.m., and the concerts are expected to last from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.

The series is co-sponsored by the Affton Chamber of Commerce and the St. Louis County Parks Department. Tickets may be purchased at the gate for $7, and children under 12 get in free.

Advanced tickets can be ordered from the Affton Chamber for $6 each. These tickets can be used for any of the eight concerts. To purchase tickets, stop by the  from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. or you can mail the chamber a check and a self-addressed envelope.

Parking at the concerts is free and concessions are available. Concert-goers are also encouraged to bring in their own refreshments, but glass containers are not allowed.
