Get Up and Glow for Night Time Disc Golf
Festus' Jokerst Park will host golf-by-glowsticks for the local club's fourth annual recreational event on Saturday night.
The perk is you’ll always see your disc. The trade-off is you won’t see much else.
The Jefferson County disc golf club, the Sharpshooters, is hosting its Night Flight event at Jokerst Park on Saturday. The after-hours evening of disc golf features two rounds amongst the (otherwise) scenic nine-hole course in Festus, using glowsticks to designate important landmarks – as well as the discs.
“The Night Flight is a recreational event designed to give players the opportunity to play disc golf at night,” said Sharpshooters president Joe McKee. “We supply glow-in-the-dark discs and food, and the course will be lit up with glow sticks on the tee pads, and LED rings on the baskets. We will also have our stock discs and will have LED lights that you attach to your disc.”

The $20 event provides one glow disc, two rounds of golf, food and merchandise prizes awarded for divisions as well as various closest-to-pin competitions. For those with a competitive edge, an optional Open Division will be available for an additional $5, as well as an ace pool for the first chain-banger.
Events like the Night Flight serve as fundraisers for the Sharpshooters, who improve and maintain the county courses such as Jokerst, Arnold City Park and the professional-caliber West City Park. Though the Sharpshooters were officially recognized as a sister club to the St. Louis Disc Golf Club just in 2011, this marks the fourth year the group has organized the Night Flight.
