Seckman, Fox Gather Postseason Hoops Awards

It may have been a rough season for the Fox and Seckman basketball teams, but each school is represented by area postseason hoops awards.

The Suburban South all-conference girls basketball team has been announced, and Seckman (9-15) junior guard Abby Hayden was named to the first team. Hayden led the Jaguars this season with an average of 10.5 points per game, and 30 made 3-pointers. Hayden also averaged 3.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.7 steals and should be an impact player again in her senior season.

Named to the league’s second team was Seckman junior forward Shelbey Stuckmeyer, who averaged 6.3 points and 11.2 rebounds per game this season. With Hayden and Stuckmeyer back next season, head coach Tim Meeks has a great chance to turn in a winning season in 2011-12.

Meeks does lose senior Jessica Montgomery, who was named to the all-conference defensive team.

Meanwhile, the Fox boys team (7-18) saw senior Zack English honored as part of the Suburban West all-conference defensive team. English averaged 10.6 points, 4.9 rebounds and had 31 steals to cap off his Warriors career.
