Girls In The Know To Host Fall School Speaker Series

Non-profit organization spreads its message to girls through workshops.

Girls in the Know (GITK), a non-profit organization designed to educate and empower girls ages nine to 13 with their moms or mother figure, will host speaker series at local middle schools from Sept. through Nov. The month-long speaker series teaches healthy communication skills to strengthen the mother-daughter bond while promoting positive self-esteem. Program topics range from self-esteem and bullying to nutrition and internet safety.

The next workshop will be at Selvidge Middle School at 235 New Ballwin Rd. in Ballwin (Rockwood School District) – Tuesdays, Sept. 23, 30, Oct. 7 and 14 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Program costs are $125 per daughter and mother/caregiver pair. Financial assistance and scholarships are available, and no one is turned away from this program. Reservations are required since each program has only 40 spots available. Registration is available at http://www.girlsintheknow.org/registration/.
