During the 2020-2021 school year, Rockwood has remained flexible to do our very best for students in the ever-changing COVID-19 environment. We have worked hard to support students and families by offering two instructional models: in-person and virtual learning. We remain inspired by our teachers, leaders and staff who provide quality learning experiences for all students. As we prepare to enter the fourth and final quarter of the school year, we have two important pieces of information to share with you:
- Change of Enrollment Status Begins Feb. 23
- Virtual Dates Identified for Fourth Quarter
Change of Enrollment Status Begins Feb. 23Beginning Tuesday, Feb. 23, families may change their child's enrollment status to either Rockwood At Home or Rockwood At School for the remainder of the school year. Parents and guardians will have from Tuesday, Feb. 23, through Sunday, Feb. 28, to make their selection on a change of enrollment form.According to Dr. Lisa Counts, assistant superintendent supervision of schools, once the selection is made, the choice will be valid from March 8 through June 3 (the last day of the 2020-2021 school year) for elementary students and from March 29 through June 3 for middle and high school students. This change in enrollment status will ensure schools have time to complete planning for physical space, staffing and scheduling for the final quarter of the school year. Please note some answers to frequently asked questions from parents.Three Virtual Dates Identified for Fourth QuarterRockwood teachers will continue to instruct students concurrently through the end of the school year, and it is critical that they have time to plan lessons for both in-person and virtual students. Three virtual learning days are now scheduled for the fourth quarter: Friday, April 16; Friday, April 23; and Friday, April 30.Virtual days are when in-person learners stay home from school and connect with their teacher and online classmates via Zoom learning activities. Virtual days offer more opportunities for students to connect online and allow teachers time to plan, as well as time to connect with students who may need individual help in learning. Additional information about virtual days can be found on the district website.
