In Rockwood, we strive to do whatever it takes to ensure all students realize their potential. Our goal is to PDFcultivate Rockwood learners who think creatively and critically; engage thoughtfully and respectfully; develop strong character; collaborate with others; and explore our world. Over the final month of the 2020-2021 school year, we will be celebrating fifth-, eighth- and 12th-grade students from around Rockwood who embody these characteristics and reflect the hopes, dreams and aspirations we hold for every child in our school community. Today, we feature Crestview Middle eighth-grader Pedro Rezende. ----------

The educators who have interacted with Pedro Rezende during his three years at Crestview Middle know him as a student who is always willing to go the extra mile to help his classmates and teachers alike. In sixth grade, for example, he would regularly meet with a new classmate – who did not speak English – to help the new student navigate life at Crestview. Both Pedro and the student speak Portuguese, so Pedro was able to act as a mentor."Pedro always strives to do well and is always positive," his teachers say. "Pedro is helpful in the classroom and volunteers to help when needed. He shows leadership skills and helps other students."Outside of school, Pedro loves playing soccer and cooking. At Crestview, he counts among his favorite memories the sixth-grade trip to Six Flags, French Picnic Day in Lisa Bergfeld's class and his physical education classes this year.As he heads off to Marquette High, he is excited about the opportunity to play high school sports, as well as taking new classes and meeting new friends."I want to send a big 'THANK YOU' to all teachers and staff from Crestview," Pedro said.
