Team Building and Fighting Hunger

Fish Window Cleaning franchisees gathered from around the country to construct mini golf course out of food items for Circle of Concern.

On Aug. 2, about 200 people in red gathered for a team building effort that would benefit a local food pantry and bring awareness to Fish Window Cleaning’s nationwide charitable efforts, FISH Feeds. Fish Window Cleaning headquarters purchased 1400 food items to be used in a miniature golf challenge, which were then donated to Circle Of Concern Food Pantry. Teams of FISH franchisees used the items to build miniature golf holes. The teams were judged based on creativity and team spirit. Franchisees then played the miniature golf holes for prizes.

“I watched 20 teams in red shirts and colored bandanas, on the floor, on their knees, carefully creating a mini golf course like no other,” said Chris Pallozola, Executive Director of Circle Of Concern. “The most fun part? The course was constructed of boxes of cereal, packaged dinners and cans of ravioli! To know that the 1,400 food items used were then to be donated to Circle’s food pantry was heartwarming. This was the most creative “food drive” I have ever experienced!”

During the event, an undisclosed monetary donation was also made to Circle. The donation was raised during the franchisor’s golf tournament earlier in the week.

FISH Feeds is a charitable project of the Fish Window Cleaning franchise system. Fish Window Cleaning is the largest window cleaning franchise in the country with over 250 locations. Through FISH Feeds, franchise locations across the United States collect and distribute non-perishable food items to food banks and food pantry sites in their local communities.

“More pressure has been put on local food banks due to cuts in the food stamp program,” said Mike Merrick, CEO of Fish Window Cleaning. “Through FISH Feeds, franchisees have an impact in their own communities and hopefully alleviate some of the burdens that their food banks experience.”
