• Belle, Bland harriers claim eight medals on home course (mariescountyadvocate.com) — Bland Middle School runners brought home medals from the Belle Cross Country Invitational at Belle City Park, with the Lady Bears finishing sixth as a team. Bland's boys and girls harriers now turn their attention to the Calvary Lutheran Invitational on Oct. 3 and the Hermann Invitational on Oct. 6, giving local families more chances to cheer them on.
• Phyllis Fredrick 1948-2026 (mariescountyadvocate.com) — Bland residents are mourning 77-year-old Phyllis I. Fredrick, a devoted member of Bland Christian Church and volunteer at PEP Vet Clinic in town. Her funeral was held at Bland Christian Church with burial in Bland Union Cemetery, and friends are encouraged to remember her through memorials to the church or Protect Every Pet.
