Saint Louis Ballet Presents New Works: Contemporary Choreographer's Series May 10-11 at the Touhill

The return of Saint Louis Ballet’s spring repertory program will be marked by new works from local and visiting contemporary choreographers. The Blanche M. Touhill Performing Arts Center will host an exciting mixed-bill lineup May 10-11 that features world premieres by renowned artist Christopher d’Amboise and Saint Louis Ballet Artistic Director Gen Horiuchi.
d’Amboise, former principal of New York City Ballet and former artistic director of Pennsylvania Ballet, is premiering a piece commissioned by Saint Louis Ballet with music composed by Beethoven. Horiuchi, a former New York City Ballet Principal, will showcase a newly created work featuring music by Claude Bolling, a French jazz composer and musician. These one-of-a-kind performances will highlight the artistry and technique of the Saint Louis Ballet dancers.
The program will also feature a comedic duet to Rossini’s William Tell Overture choreographed by Dance St. Louis Artistic/Executive Director Michael Uthoff as well as a revival of Horiuchi’s audience favorite, More Morra. The return of More Morra marks its first appearance since 2009 and features an original music composition by resident composer for the company Joe Morra.
