Saint Louis Ballet Presents Valentine’s Day Performances of Romeo & Juliet February 8-10 at The Touhill

Saint Louis Ballet’s performance of Romeo & Juliet, thought by many to be the greatest love story ever told, returns to St. Louis just in time for Valentine's Day. Saint Louis Ballet’s renowned choreographer Gen Horiuchi presents four performances of the full-length ballet at the Blanche M. Touhill Performing Arts Center on the University of Missouri-St. Louis campus from February 8-10, 2013.

Set in 16^th century Verona, Romeo & Juliet chronicles Shakespeare's tale of two star-crossed young lovers from families on opposing sides of a bitter feud. In a week’s time, Juliet and Romeo must decide between their passion for each other and their desire to remain loyal to their feuding families.

Horiuchi’s Romeo & Juliet, which premiered in 2011 to standing ovations, features stunning Renaissance costume designs, sweepingly regal ballroom scenes, vivacious swordplay, and the iconic balcony pas de deux set to music by Sergei Prokofiev. 

“Romeo & Juliet is the ultimate story of love,” says Horiuchi. “Through expressive choreography, action-packed fight scenes and theatrical performances, we translate the timeless romance into unforgettable dance.”

There will also be a pre-performance opening night gala at 6:00pm on February 8^th in the Touhill lobby. This special event includes cocktails, dinner and tickets to the opening night performance. Table sponsorship ranges from $3,500 to $10,000. Individual sponsorship is also available ranging from $95 per person (dessert during intermission only) to $500 per person which includes dinner and recognition. Romeo & Juliet runs February 8-10, at the Blanche M. Touhill Performing Arts Center’s Anheuser-Busch Hall Auditorium located on the University of Missouri-St. Louis campus.
